What is the role of a Copier Technician?
Bay Copy & Data, a trusted Xerox Authorized Partner, specializes in providing cutting-edge print solutions to businesses across Tampa Bay. We are seeking a highly skilled Copier Technician to join our team. Provide daily on-site service to our customers, diagnosing, repairing and maintaining digital copiers, printers, and fax machines, including multifunctional and connected digital products. XEROX is our main brand of equipment. We also service many of the other manufacturers as well (Konica/Kyocera/ HP/Ricoh/other) – other brands are mostly on a Time and Materials basis. The majority of the work is on site in the Tampa Bay area – with some of the work/repairs being done at our place of business.
Hours are Monday – Friday The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise, a customer-focused mindset, and the ability to diagnose and resolve equipment issues efficiently.
What are the Key Responsibilities of a copier technician?
- Install and configure Xerox copiers, printers, scanners, and related software.
- Perform routine maintenance and servicing of copiers, printers, and fax machines.
- Troubleshoot and repair hardware malfunctions, including cartridges and imaging components.
- Manage inventory and orders for equipment, parts, and supplies.
- Provide responsive and professional customer support.
- Coordinate service schedules and address urgent technical issues.
- Stay up to date with Xerox technologies and industry advancements.
What are the Qualifications & Requirements of hiring a copier technician?
- 3-5 years Field experience servicing copiers (MANDATORY) – Xerox experience is preferred
- Strong knowledge of copier and printer technology.
- Experience with Xerox multi-function devices is a plus.
- Advanced IT/Networking Skills a definite plus. (able to take the installs from start to finish).
- Valid driver’s license required
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to communicate technical information, both verbal and written, to a wide range of end-users.
- Excellent listening, interpersonal, communication, customer service, and observation skills are essential.
- Proficiency in copier and print management software (e.g., MS Office, Xerox, Ricoh).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Outstanding customer service abilities.

- Assist with installs, deliveries, and equipment demonstrations.
- You absolutely must be a self-starter and not need micromanaged. Honesty and dependability are must haves in our company.
What are the Duties of a copier technician?
- IT / Networking skills are a big plus for this job.
- Install Setup, Training and Support.
- Manage service territory and provide first class service to our clients throughout Tampa Bay
- We will provide company Service vehicle (which can be taken home) or we may be able to reimburse for mileage for a non company used vehicle.
- Be willing to obtain manufacturer certification in all multi-function devices provided to our customers
- Self-sufficiently plan equipment service work by evaluating requests, planning, routing, and confirming appointments. We use eautomate as our service management software.
- Document all service actions taken by completing forms, reports, and logs as required
- Demonstrate hands-on knowledge of the specifications, features, capabilities, and benefits of the office equipment we provide
- Coordinate with dispatch unit to keep them informed on the status of all activities
- Other duties assigned by Management
- Follow manager’s guidelines for daily productivity of appointments
- Follow-up on all customer commitments in a prompt manner
- Assist with equipment training for new accounts
- Additional tasks required by management
Equipment Serviced:
- Copiers: Kyocera, Canon, Ricoh, Konica, Xerox, Sharp, Toshiba, HP and others.
- Printers: HP, Lexmark, and others.
Education:
- Xerox experience is a big plus and Certifications is also a Plus
- High School diploma or equivalent required
- Technical School certificate preferred
- Associates Degree, A+, Net+ Certification or equivalent skills preferred’
